Our Origins
It is not only a modern and elegant range of Cava expressing the best that Spain can offer

The challenge to position Spain in the premium international wine trade started in 1993 for Conchi’s son, Javier Ruiz de Galarreta.
He was convinced that premium wines had great potential in international markets and that year initiated partnerships with quality Rioja Alavesa winegrowers, later expanding to other regions.
This expansion included Cava and during the early 2000’s Javier started searching throughout Catalonia to find the ideal partner capable of producing an elegant, fresh sparkling wine, a «different» Cava, as it is this region that grows the best quality at higher altitudes. In the heart of the Alt Penedès, he discovered the quality vineyards he was looking for near Vila-Rodona (Tarragona).
The portfolio currently includes three new wines, an organic Cava, a fashionable pale rosé Cava in addition to the more classic choices on offer and a Gran Reserva. All crafted in the best Spanish Cava producing sub-region «Comtats de Barcelona».

Terroir is important to making good wine, «good wines are made in the vineyard» is an adage often used to emphasise a simple truth – you can’t take bad grapes to make good wine.
That’s the reason for selecting the Alt Penedès and the village of Vila- Rodona as the terroir for growing our Villa Conchi Cava’s.
There the best grapes are grown in older, high altitude vineyards; Xarel. lo, Macabeo and Parellada grapes are the indigenous varieties and a touch of Chardonnay is added to create an elegant, fresh and balanced style.
All grapes are handpicked, allowing the vineyard manager to wait until the perfect moment of maturity to harvest and to craft base wines that are round, balanced, fruit driven and backed by good acidity.
